Satisfying Weekend…except for joomla GRRR!

This weekend was pretty nice. Weather was great. I finally got out and went roller blading with my brother. We saw some monkey’s on a bike trail. They weren’t freely walking around. They were in a monkey zoo like place that you can see from the trail. Easter was good as well. I tried to make sweet potatoes…will see how that taste today at lunch.

I recently moded Nerdfellowship.com to read feeds of this journal. So if your on nerdfellowship.com you can see my journal post from there.

Tried to install joomla and mess that this weekend. What a pain. I had the worst time editing modules and arranging articles. It takes to long for someone like me. I have dealt with many CRM /CMS to know that Joomla’s interface is a load of bs. Its not hard to organize site content.

Gonna try drupal this weekend. Heard it was a little easier.

Thats all…hope everyone had a great easter!

Joomla…how you waste so much of my time

Been playing with Joomla this weekend. My friend over at 3godkings.com uses it for his site. I have used it before and was not very happy with it’s crm. Thing is, its works really really really well for community sites.

I have used everything from Subdreamer to SMF based portal content. Its all cool but never quite lives upto what I need.
This weekend I decided to toy with Joomla and give it a try. So far it took me half an hour to get a theme installed properly. This is not a good thing. So here is to many “WTH!” and breaks after 5 mins of work. Joomla, your like that really ugly fat rich guy and I am the shallow girl who just wants to be taken care of. I don’t want you but your the only one that has what I want.

Rant done……for now….

Nerd Fellowship Launched

Indeed this is great news for my new site Nerd Fellowship | www.nerdfellowship.com

We have about 33 users so far. We are averaging 100 New Post A Day!

Still trying to bring in more people cause 33 is not a lot for a forum community. Its good for opening but my goals are much higher for the site.

So check out the site www.nerdfellowship.com

More updates here once I get Nerd Fellowship in stable shape.

Kuma is done but the oil paint I used for the mouth and inner ears is taking forever to dry. As I type I have a hair dryer blowing on it and it’s still taking forever to dry.

More Kuma

Is it getting old yet? Yeah maybe. I decided to try it on and take a few pics.
Check it and comment it

Toys I Wanted as a Boy

As a child I was fortunate to have parents who were some what wealthy. We were no means upper class rather upper middle class. This being said I often did receive the presents I wanted most on Christmas.

Every once in a while I see old toys online that I remember desperately “NEEDING” as my child brain told me. Today I shall start a collection of toys I wanted when I was a child but never got. Why am I doing this? Well maybe some of you out there also have the same story. And its just good to talk about the “what was hot then” toys of the past.

1. Game Boy Camera

Game Boy Camera w/ Pocket

When this toy was released I was salivating at the mouth for it. It was the coolest toy a kid could have. Take in mind that back then digital cameras where not cheap and by no means did I ever see any of my classmates with an actual digital camera. So this was the next best thing. If you had this toy in school, your year book prediction most likely said “1st in the class to venture into space”. I never got this toy because it was toy exspensive in my parents eye and every time my birthday or Christmas came around they were out of stock. The one year I finally saved up money to get one and the guy at Toys R Us said they had discontinued them and the store would no longer be supplying them.

2.Tor the Shuttle Zord!’

Tor the Shuttle Zord

Tor the Shuttle Zord was a Turtle Zord (Mech like machine) from power rangers. It came out in the show during power rangers prime and when it was at my peak of interest. This toy goes along with the classic problem of it takes more then one toy to complete the set. As it always was with power rangers, every toy attaches with each other to create some sort of super toy. By super meaning pieces fall of it more, movable joints that aren’t so movable, and pretty much only good to stare at type fun. I had already acquired the RED DRAGON ZORD! A couple months back for Christmas. Now the red dragon zord alone is a complete zord figure. BUT! Then they came out with Tor, which the red dragon zord can fit into. Basically its a turtle and it’s shell comes open and you can put the other toy inside of it “PROTECTING IT FROM THE EVIL FORCES OF THE UNIVERSE!” So of course I had to have it to complete my Red Dragon Zord. I never did get it. For once again it was to expensive. Oh Tor the Shuttle Zord, would could have been a great team together.

3. Dreamcast

Dreamcast

9/10 times my parents always kept me up to date on the console’s. From my first console the sega genesis to current day Wii. However my family fell short with the dreamcast. In the end it was a good thing because the DC didn’t last long. I remember going to my friends house and playing sonic adventure (personally my favorite sonic game) & Shenmue. The best part was the ability to use its internet browser. Back then I didn’t have a computer and dial up was still the norm. I watched my friend update his geocities site through his dreamcast. I thought “how could would it be to have the this! I would have the newest console in my room with THE INTERNET!”. You have to understand the internet was very exciting back then. Anyway, eventually it failed and PS2 came out. I actually bought a DC off ebay a couple months back. Came with a buncha games. I look at it now and wish I had dial to reminisce about my days as a teen discovering the internet. Is that weird? Yah it is…but I am glad it’s my memory to have.

Well thats it for this Edition “TIWAB”….yes

THREE ONE THOOOOSSAAAHHHH!!!

I heard the military was developing a ray gun a couple months back. 60 Minutes reporter demonstrates here what that ray gun feels like….its quite funny….and scary when you think about it in war.

Thank You Mass Effect

I have been playing Mass Effect (till lately been a little busy) and I have to say I am impressed.  I just wanted to say thank you to Bioware for creating one of the deepest games ever made. The game has me engulfed in its world as I travel throughout it’s many galaxies . I won’t go explaining why every detail why I love it. I will just say, its worth buying an Xbox 360 for.
